The Gas Trap

Here is the mistake to avoid: swapping every last ETH. USDC is an ERC-20 token, and moving it costs gas paid in ETH. A wallet holding USDC and zero ETH cannot send that USDC anywhere until it is topped up. Keep a small ETH balance in the wallet that will hold the USDC.

The same applies to the deposit itself. Sending ETH costs gas, so you cannot send your full balance; your wallet deducts the fee and shows the maximum you can send.

If your ETH is on an exchange, withdraw it on the Ethereum network specifically. Many exchanges also offer layer-2 networks for ETH withdrawals, and a deposit on the wrong one will not match the order.

Add the token if it is hidden

Some wallets only show tokens you have added. If the USDC does not appear, add USDC from your wallet's own token list rather than pasting a contract address from a search result; lookalike tokens with the same name exist.
