If you searched your exchange for XMR and came up empty, you are not alone. Monero has been removed from most large exchanges since 2024. Here is where each major platform stands, checked against their own support pages and live market data on October 16, 2026, and the easiest way to get XMR anyway.

Coinbase has never offered Monero for trading, and its market data API has no XMR pair. You may see a Monero price page on coinbase.com, but it only tracks the price; you can't buy, sell or hold XMR there. Coinbase's CEO said in 2020 that it would not list Monero, and nothing has changed since. If you read that Coinbase "delisted" XMR, that is wrong: it was never there.
What Coinbase users do instead: buy BTC, ETH or USDC, send it to a wallet you control, then swap it to XMR.
Binance removed every XMR spot pair (XMR/BTC, XMR/ETH, XMR/USDT and XMR/BNB) on February 20, 2024, and dropped XMR from margin, Convert, Simple Earn and loans in the days before. Withdrawals closed on May 20, 2024, and balances left after that were converted to USDC from September 2024.
The one thing left is the XMRUSDT perpetual futures contract, which is still trading. A futures contract is a bet on the price. It never gives you coins you can withdraw to a Monero wallet, so it is no use if you want to hold or spend XMR.
Kraken is the last big US-founded exchange that still lists Monero. Its XMR/USD market is live and XMR is still on its supported-asset list. But it has cut XMR region by region:
Outside those regions, including the US, Kraken still shows XMR among its supported assets. Any Kraken account needs ID verification, and each time a region has been cut, holders had to move their coins out or have them sold.

Swap to XMR →KuCoin and MEXC still run XMR/USDT spot markets, and Kraken does outside the regions above. All three are centralized exchanges where XMR sits in their custody until you withdraw, and KuCoin requires ID. Regional access changes, so check yours before depositing.
Don't rely on TradeOgre. Some 2026 articles still recommend it, but Canadian police seized the exchange and shut it down in September 2025.

KuCoin and MEXC run XMR/USDT spot markets, and Kraken still offers XMR outside the EEA, UK, Canada and India. TradeOgre is no longer an option: it was seized and shut down in September 2025.
Buy BTC, ETH, LTC or USDT anywhere, withdraw it to a wallet you control, and swap it to XMR on an instant swap service. To pay with cash or a bank transfer, use a peer-to-peer market such as Haveno.
Most large exchanges have removed privacy coins since 2024, and others limit them by country. Your exchange may list XMR in one region and not another, which is why Kraken shows it to some users and not others.
