A Solana wallet holds the key for your Solana address and signs your transactions. One address holds your SOL and every Solana token: USDC, USDT, other SPL tokens and NFTs. Most Solana wallets also connect to apps on the network, so they double as your login for swaps, staking and marketplaces.
When you create one you get a recovery phrase, usually 12 or 24 words. It restores the wallet in any compatible app, so write it on paper and keep it offline. Anyone who has it can move everything in the wallet.
A Solana address is a 32-byte public key written in base58: a string of 32 to 44 letters and numbers with no fixed prefix. It never starts with 0x. For other coins' formats, see our crypto wallet guide.
All the wallets below are self-custody: you hold the recovery phrase. They are listed by type, not ranked. Checked on October 22, 2026.
| Wallet | Platforms | Networks | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phantom | iPhone, Android, browser extension | Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin | Built-in swaps and SOL staking; connects to a Ledger |
| Solflare | iPhone, Android, browser extension | Solana only | Staking, swaps, and Ledger support on mobile (Bluetooth), web and desktop |
| Trust Wallet | iPhone, Android, browser extension | 100+ networks incl. Solana, Ethereum, Tron | Handy if you also hold USDT on Tron or coins on other chains |
| Exodus | Desktop and mobile | Many networks incl. Solana, Ethereum, Tron | Supports SPL and Token-2022 tokens; Ledger works with Solana in Exodus Mobile |
| Ledger (hardware) | Ledger device with the Solana app | Solana and many others | Keeps the key offline; use it through Phantom, Solflare or Exodus Mobile |
Phantom started as a Solana wallet. It runs as a phone app and a browser extension, and holds SOL, SPL tokens and NFTs. Swaps and SOL staking are built in, and you can connect a Ledger so the key never leaves the device. Solana is its core network; the list of other chains it supports changes over time, so check inside the app before you rely on one.
Solflare is a Solana-only wallet for iPhone, Android and browsers. It has native staking, token swaps and NFT tools. Its help pages walk you through connecting a Ledger over Bluetooth on mobile or USB on a computer, which makes it a common choice for people who keep SOL on a hardware wallet and stake it.
Trust Wallet is a multi-chain wallet for phones and browsers that supports more than 100 networks, Solana and Tron among them. Pick it if you want SOL, Solana USDC and Tron USDT in one app. Make sure you copy the Solana address, not the Ethereum or Tron one, when you receive SOL.
Exodus runs on desktop and mobile and supports SOL, SPL tokens and Token-2022 tokens, plus USDT on Solana, Ethereum and Tron. In Exodus Mobile you can also use a Ledger for Solana.
For a larger SOL balance, install the Solana app on a Ledger and use it through Phantom, Solflare or Exodus Mobile. You confirm each transaction on the device. Our cold wallet guide covers hardware wallets in more detail.
Solana fees are small, but two rules trip up new users: every account needs a small rent-exempt balance, and every token you hold lives in its own token account.
| Cost | Amount | When you pay it |
|---|---|---|
| Base transaction fee | 5,000 lamports (0.000005 SOL) per signature | Every transaction you send |
| Priority fee | Optional, set by the wallet | When the network is busy and you want faster inclusion |
| Rent for a plain SOL account | About 0.00089 SOL | Your address only "exists" once it holds at least this much |
| Rent for a token account (USDC, USDT) | About 0.00204 SOL | Once per token you hold; refunded when you close the empty token account |
USDC is issued natively on Solana by Circle, and Tether lists Solana among the networks where it issues USDT. Both arrive at your normal Solana address. Behind the scenes the wallet keeps them in an associated token account, one per token, linked to your address.

Phantom and Solflare are the most common choices. Phantom also holds Ethereum and Bitcoin, while Solflare is Solana-only with strong staking and Ledger support. If you hold many coins, Trust Wallet or Exodus keep SOL next to them. For savings, use a Ledger through one of these apps.
It is a base58 string of 32 to 44 letters and numbers with no fixed prefix. It never starts with 0x or T. The same address receives SOL, USDC, USDT and other Solana tokens.
A plain Solana account needs about 0.00089 SOL to stay rent-exempt, and each token account, such as one for USDC, needs about 0.00204 SOL. This is a refundable deposit, not a fee. Keep a little extra SOL for transaction fees.
Yes. Both are issued on Solana and arrive at your normal Solana address. You need a little SOL in the same wallet to pay fees when you move them later. Do not send Tron or Ethereum USDT to a Solana address.
Paste your Solana address as the payout address on Superswap.cx and send BTC, ETH, USDT, XMR or another supported coin. There is no account or ID check, swaps start at $50, and most finish in 5 to 30 minutes.
